Inspired by impressionism in music, a movement among various composers in during the late 19th and early 20th century. Music focused on atmosphere, moods and emotions aroused by a certain subject rather than a detailed tone‐picture. Composers of these sort were labeled impressionists by referencing to the impressionist painters that made the observer, in this case the listener focus his attention on the overall impression.
